Pre Production

Synima felt that a 2d animation would be the best way to tell this story, with the character placed centrally in the screen and all the scenarios happening around her. Her simple facial expressions could communicate her dissatisfaction with support after warranty, to be replaced with a smile and more productivity once Post-warranty support had been put in place. Around the character’s relatively calm environment, supplemental frames would convey some of the panic around IT failure with a more frenetic style.

Animation

This animation used a striking visual style that was unlike anything we had previously produced for HPE. The character was heavily stylised but capable of a surprising breadth of human emotion as her IT environment experiences every misfortune we could think of! We overlaid wireframe ‘windows’ over her workspace to reflect the IT nature of the product and used colours that were in line with HPE’s wider branding guidelines. An 80’s-tinged synth soundtrack completes the slightly retro feel of the animation and colours.

So…did it work?

We think this is a lively and effective video that gets the message across in a way that encourages viewers to consider the product. HPE agreed and this video was the jumping off point for many more collaborations with Synima. The video has been used to train HPE’s sales teams in how to sell Post-warranty support as well as been externally shared among HPE’s customers with positive results.
