AI Concept development & pre-visualization | smarter creative planning

Visualize your ideas faster with AI-assisted concept development

Man immersed in generative visual graphics

AI-powered video pre-production can cut concept development time by up to 75%. Creative concepts can be explored, visualised and refined in hours, with the ability to toggle between visual styles, test alternative moods or camera angles, and iterate on ideas before spending any budget on production.

    Our concept development process

    Creative briefing and campaign objectives

As one of our most popular AI video agency services we make sure our concept development process is fully human-first. We start every project by understanding the goals, audience, story, and emotion before ever touching AI tools. Our experienced team defines what the content needs to make people feel, and then we use AI to help visualize how to get there.

    AI-assisted concept generation and iteration

For the Synima team, AI is all about expanding on human-powered creativity; expanding on ideas, treatments, and looks. Using AI, we’re able to explore more ideas and refine further within any given time frame than we ever could without it. Ultimately, this leads us to bigger, bolder creative execution!

Why use AI for concept development

When AI is used within a proven professional creative framework, it’s not cutting corners, it’s simply a way to explore more directions and quickly align teams. The result is a faster, more precise, and far more collaborative process.

    Rapid ideation with AI-generated visuals

Text-to-image and text-to-video tools like Midjourney, Runway, or Veo 3 are an incredible way to speed up the brainstorming process. Synima’s Creative Director of Generative AI, Jon Draper, offers a uniquely practical perspective on how AI is reshaping creative workflows. “The biggest impact of AI has been at the early stages of the creative process,” explains Draper. “Style frames and creative exploration have become dramatically faster, with new approaches being unlocked and the overall bar raised, even on tighter budgets.”

    Clear direction before production investment

Our creative team produce detailed AI-style frames, mood boards and storyboards. Clients gain a clear understanding of what the final piece will look like well before production begins, which reduces risk and protects budgets. When a client signs off on an AI-generated storyboard or concept video, everyone knows exactly what’s being produced.

    Align stakeholders with visual previews

AI video concepting allows creative, marketing, and executive teams to explore and align faster around creative expectations. When collaborating with Shan Foods, the Synima team was able to better portray our vision and get client buy-in and approval faster with AI-generated storyboards.

Reduce creative uncertainty and wasted spend

When everyone is on the same page going in, there are fewer surprises coming out. With teams fully aligned on set, every shot matches the agreed concept, and there are no wasted resources or shoot days.

    Pre-visualization services

    AI-generated storyboards and shot planning

Separate from our post-production services, it’s now possible to use AI storyboarding as a pre-production capability to generate frames directly from a script or shot list using text-to-image or text-to-video tools. Tools like Runway, Midjourney, Firefly and Veo 3 can visualize scenes with composition, lighting, and camera angles based on prompts. Once visuals are generated, editors or directors can sequence them, add transitions, and review framing for camera blocking, continuity, and coverage, essentially pre-editing the story visually. This helps determine whether a scene flows, what shots are redundant, and where coverage may be missing. This gives the project a visual map before production begins.
At Synima, our producers and directors use AI-generated storyboards during early alignment meetings. We often create 10-15 frames for a 30-second spot, mapping out camera moves, transitions, and framing. This AI concept development process helps our clients visualize their campaign before greenlighting production and reduces reshoots and revisions later.

Concept art and campaign mood boards

AI-generated concept art helps creative teams visualize a brand’s tone, environment, and design direction before production. It combines traditional moodboard building (textures, colors, references, etc.) with generative tools that are able to create unique compositions that match brand identity. Creative leads are able to feed references (brand imagery, logos, talent headshots, environments) into AI tools to generate realistic mockups for sets, wardrobe, lighting, or animation style.
Before a shoot or animation project begins, the Synima creative team builds detailed moodboards to help clients preview their campaign identity early and align every department around a shared vision.

AI animatics and pre-vis for early review

Motion previews can be generated from static storyboard frames, creating animatics that show pacing, camera movement, and transitions before shooting. These can also include temporary sound design, music, or voiceovers for timing. AI video generation models can animate frames or characters to simulate motion, while motion interpolation tools can fill in missing frames to display smoother motion between storyboard stills. All of this effort helps test tone, rhythm, and emotional impact before investing in full production.
At Synima, we build early animatics to help clients see their ideas in motion. These pre-visuals show camera flow, edit rhythm, and tone, so everyone is aligned before production begins.

    Scene, style, and tone exploration

AI concept development tools allow teams to test multiple visual treatments quickly – like lighting setups, camera lenses, or style variations (realistic, painterly, animated, etc.). Style transfer and image-to-image generation help apply a single look across different scenes, while diffusion models and neural rendering simulate real-world lighting and shadows, so directors can preview realism before the shoot. Teams can also experiment with composition, saturation, or contrast to find the visual identity that best matches the campaign’s message.
Synima’s AI Directors often generate multiple visual “routes” for a single campaign to see what resonates most. The AI-assisted previews help brand and agency partners choose a creative direction based on real visual samples vs. descriptions.

    Visual development and storyboard refinement

Once the best ideas are selected, they’re polished manually by our Designers and Directors. Our artists refine AI drafts into production-ready boards, ensuring every shot matches brand tone and technical requirements.

    Pre-visualization delivery for production sign-off

Our final pre-visualization output often includes polished storyboard decks, AI-generated animatics, or short pre-vis films with VO and music. We deliver high-fidelity previews so that your team can confidently share with stakeholders for final sign-off.

    FAQs

The power of AI is in realising our ideas faster, but the creativity element remains – that never changes or gets replaced. The creativity, nuance and intent behind an idea all come from our team – AI simply helps us bring those concepts to life far faster than has been the case until now. That pace means that we can fully develop our ideas earlier and explore a wider range of creative directions. Including options that may have been too ambitious in the past.

We’ve experienced many different stakeholder frameworks, from simple sign-offs to complex approval chains. At all stages of concepting, we make sure communication is clear and direct, sharing checkpoints and visual reference. This makes sure everyone is in alignment before anything moves into production. Our quality control process has good feedback at many stages built in, which in turn keeps the final brief exactly on track and on brand. No stakeholder surprises.

Our people and filmmakers shape everything. While AI can help us speed things along, it can’t decide tone, emotion or storytelling language on its own. Our directors, cinematographers and producers steer every choice from framing and pacing to mood and visual logic. As a result, the output feels intentional and not automated. With over 25 years of film-making experience, our productions always put the human creative and thinking elements first.

Yes. We build every concept around your brand guidelines, tone and visual rules. Our team reviews all AI-generated outputs using a human quality control process to make sure work feels authentic, consistent and unmistakably on-brand.
