HPE has one the world’s largest IT support services and they wanted to let their Complete Care customers know about HPE Technology Services. This video would also let their sales teams and third-party resellers know how to sell the benefits of Complete Care to their clients in an engaging and memorable way. They wanted a simple animation, with a single core concept that encompassed the simplicity of the service.
Synima envisaged a concept based around a marble run. We would animate a marble as it rolls through the run, which would be rendered mostly in white, with obstacles and wrong turns blocked by devices in HPE’s established brand colours. The smooth progress of the marble would symbolise the smooth experience HPE’s customers receive with problems being solved before they can disrupt the flow of business.
Animating this video was more complex than its simple appearance might suggest. With a very limited colour palette, the initial sections appear to be two-dimensional, but when the marble is launched of a ramp, the perspective changes showing us that it’s really 3D. This continues as the run corkscrews down and through increasingly complex obstacles which reflect the voice-over’s narration of the benefits of HPE Technology Services.
The finished video is minimalist and effective. The color of the marble and the HPE interventions stand out strongly against the stark white background ensuring the viewer’s attention is exactly where we want. The subtle links between the voice over and the visuals strengthen the message and when the marble settles into its finish point with a satisfying rattle, the point is made. HPE were delighted with this video and used it extensively in marketing its Complete Care package.
