Pre Production

With the visual supplied, the client also had the very start of an idea for how the story could be told. From these seeds, Synima grew an entire creative concept and worked with HPE to refine it. We reverse engineered the original image and created a plan for animating this world. We would show the characters leaving their home and moving through a landscape towards the rock they would climb at the end of the video. As they did so, shooting stars of various colours would mark the milestones in the development of LTO tape.

Animation

We wanted the video to have a winter cosy feel so we began with the figures leaving a wood cabin, windows aglow with light, as the snow falls over the landscape. We created a sense of time passing by having the scene move at a steady rate from right to left, using tree trunks in the foreground to disguise wipes as the scene changes. The shooting stars provide bursts of intense colour into a generally muted palette until the starscape finale floods the screen with green.

So…did it work?

Synima’s relationship with HPE has spanned years and many projects. They’ve trusted us to communicate their ideas to their partners and customers and we have always endeavoured to exceed their expectations. This production made use of an endearing image and the resulting film shares that emotive, optimistic sense of wonder that comes from staring up at the stars.
