Honeywell is a global leader in technological innovation. Having been impressed by Synima’s work on previous projects, they returned to us to help them make a video to explain a new product to their customers. The video needed to connect on a human level, while keeping the technology front and centre.
Honeywell’s software is complex. With so much information to communicate, we spent a lot of time honing the script to ensure we covered all the technical details. We wanted to explain how the tool is used, but not let that pull focus from the results that businesses can enjoy if they implement the system. We envisaged two parts to the video – the first, a presenter, delivering a speech direct to camera in a minimalist, futuristic looking environment. Second, we wanted to illustrate workers demonstrating the product and its results.
This was an exciting shoot as we were able to use a relatively new technology – an LED studio. An LED backdrop allows us to film the presenter against the screen as it shows an image. We used a simple design of glowing bars which created the effect of a vast space. LED rods in the foreground put the presenter ‘inside’ the image for a coherent effect. We also used the LED studio to put our two ‘employees’ into their reversed scenarios. The backdrops are displayed on the LED screen while their desks and other props are real.
We were very pleased with the effect we managed to create with the LED studio, giving the video a dynamic look and feel. Honeywell felt this video hit just the right note in terms of messaging. It’s both futuristic and contemporary which reflects Honeywell’s ideal of offering future technology today.
