Pre Production

The challenge was to tell the story in an interesting and engaging way. We worked closely with Flexport to collaboratively develop a script alongside a storyboard of custom-made illustration to make sure we had every part of this complex story covered. We planned to shoot interviews directly to camera and centre-framed to create an emotive connection with the audience. As the video needed to be suitable for internal and external audiences, we came up with a framework that worked for both eventualities.

Production

For the filming days, the Synima production team wanted honest performances from the talent and we achieved this through creating an open and relaxed environment on set. To really build the message of partnership and aid, we captured personal interactions within the work environment, creating an authentic fly-on-the-wall feel. Cinematic b-roll was filmed in slow motion and handheld, offering a sense of being ‘in the moment’. We used outdoor shots to add variety to the piece and compliment the idea of community.

The result is a film that feels emotional and warm. The interviewees shine in this production, they are clearly comfortable and speaking from the heart. The contrast between the to-camera interviews and the captured ‘moments’ of collaboration work together to create a real sense of partnership between the two organisations. Flexport were delighted with this film and have worked with Synima on other projects since.
