Nate, a New York and London-based fintech company, approached Synima to assist their in-house creative team on a social media campaign to help push the brand’s mobile app shopping experience into the stratosphere. Nate wanted our help to create two videos that would help solidify their brand as a player in the e-commerce arena while also showing how fun and easy it is to use their mobile app to increase the user’s online shopping experience.
This project had us thinking outside the box. Nate wasn’t looking for your typical shoot. They wanted movement, bold color choices, and integrated informative VFX. They wanted to be loud and disruptive – just the sort of challenge that gets Synima going! Through a combination of cutting-edge creativity with choreographed camera moves and unique set construction, the team turned what felt like a little social media project into a high-end advertisement.
We had decided to capture the action in one 360-degree take. Using a Steadicam, we timed the movements of the shot and the action of the talent precisely. The lighting had to be rigged in such a way as to hide the operator as they crossed paths with the talent sitting in the chair. The cherry on top is the “magic” of the express shopping experience. A VFX team was dispatched to handle this using old-fashioned rotoscoping techniques paired with modern 3D software. The result was pure magic.
This was a hugely successful project. Although Nate originally intended to showcase the project only on their social media channels, the brand has shown the content during television interviews with C-suite members, tech conferences, and pop-up events in New York City, highlighting its easy-to-use app. Ultimately, it’s allowed the brand to connect further with users by showing them how to own their shopping universe.
