Pre Production

Synima worked on several concepts for this project to give the client a choice in how could approach the material. EURES chose a concept that used 3D stop-motion animation in a paper cut-out style. With the concept agreed, we produced storyboards for the six scenarios and worked closely with them to refine the messaging. As we only had a very short run time for each of these videos, which were planned to be shown looping at events, we had to ensure the stories for each were simple and concise.

Animation

We had chosen a 3D style of animation that utilised models made of paper and stop-motion animated. The example video here tells a simple story about job mobility. A truck, branded with EURES’ logo, moves a home from one European country to another, crossing a boarder as it goes. We show the different countries by changing the style and colour of the trees it passes. The house arrives in a new location and is surrounded by a vibrant community.

So…did it work?

The stark sets allowed the few points of colour – the trees – to really stand out and strongly show that the jobseeker has moved country. We used web tools to monitor, track and report on social media performance and web page hits. The videos increased traffic to specific pages on the EURES website by 68% and awareness of EURES across member states was measurably increased. Thanks to this production EURES trusted Synima to work with them again on further EURES campaigns.
