Whether championing an initiative or inspiring change, a Public Service Announcement (PSA) needs to be clear and emotive. Video and animation are perfect for displaying information in a comprehensive manner with that irreplicable emotional touch. This sentiment couldn’t be reflected better by our collaboration with the National Association for Children of Alcoholics (Nacoa).

Founded in 1990 to address the needs of children affected by a parent’s drinking, Nacoa have been key in the alcohol awareness space, continually providing a safe place and resources to support the staggering 1 in 5 children who are affected by their parent’s drinking.

With government funding cut, Nacoa is entirely supported by patrons and thus needed communications which could help break through the noise and secure the right audience.

We created a series of PSAs which outlined Nacoa’s mission whilst also recounting the personal story of one of their ambassadors, Calum Best. Filming an intimate, question-based series, we were able to bring the story of Nacoa to life, walking the viewer through Calum’s 16 years of involvement whilst illustrating the importance of funding to help provide support to children in desperate need.

Whilst the series rollout is still ongoing the results so far couldn’t be better! Garnering over a million views online, the films are spreading huge awareness. With each film releasing, Nacoa’s helpline received an increase in calls by 33%, many of which were first time callers.

“I feel I could sit and binge all the posts on Nacoa after watching this one. I’m 54 and all my adult life my mum drank”

“Powerful, meaningful, thoughtful…giving back to such a good cause gives others inspiration and purpose to keep going”

We are so proud with how this project turned out and we hope it stands as a testament to other non-profits on the importance of communicating the people behind your organization. During times of uncertainty where external funding is limited, video and animation offers a valuable aide in supporting causes which matter.
